Introduce your students to technology and simple programming with this exciting tablet-based course. Students will create interactive images, computer games, and story animations. Created to build on and work with our very popular Mini Coder online course.
While they are busy creating and having fun, students will be learning basic programming skills and will take away critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will benefit them long after the course is over.

Brainy Bytes curriculum follows the newest generation of ISTE, (International Society for Technology and Education), standards for students. Each of our curricula will expose students to technology and at least one other curriculum topic area (i.e., Science, Language Arts).
The following ISTE standards can be found throughout Brainy Bytes curriculum:
1C – Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
1D – Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.
2B – Students engage in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using networked devices.
3D –Students build knowledge by actively exploring real-world issues and problems, developing ideas and theories and pursuing answers and solutions.
4A – Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.

Jr Programming is taught on Scratch JR which is an introductory programming language that enables young children to create their own interactive stories and games. Children snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves — then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.
